About the Project and this report.

This project provides you with a mechanism of working with remote files, information about it is described further. This enhancement of BASH was inspired by Avner Lottem and will probably be included (we hope) into standard BASH distribution. A likewise mechanism is implemented as Emacs library ange-ftp.el but in an entirely different approach.

Audience

This document is intended for UNIX programmers that are interested in network programming (TCP/IP) and BASH readline programming.
