As decided on Intel Haifa LAN meeting:
There's a very strong need for having a full control of all LAN
entities, including both hardware and software aspects, through
a pool of data which will contain all the information about those
entities and a set of tools that would extract the needed information
in an understandable format. Such a system will allow the network
engineers to explore and inspect the campus LAN with a high
precision and reliability.
